Making highlights and notes encourages you to read with understanding and helps you to easily locate text that you've earmarked as important in your ebook.


If you're a teacher, learn how you can share your highlights and notes with a group of students.


The process for creating highlights and notes in the Snapplify Reader app will be slightly different across the various platforms. To make highlights and notes in your ebook, follow the instructions for your specific device:


iOS

To make a highlight:

  1. Open your ebook in the reader app.
  2. Tap and hold a particular word in the text. A selector tool (which you can use to drag and select text with) becomes available, as well as a pop-up menu.

  3. Drag the selector over the text you wish to highlight, then tap 'Highlight' in the pop-up menu. The selected text is highlighted automatically.


  4. To change the colour of the highlight, tap the highlighted text, then tap the colour gradient icon in the pop-up menu.

  5. Tap on your preferred colour in the colour selector. Your text will now be highlighted in this colour.



To add a note:

  1. Tap on the highlighted text.
  2. In the pop-up menu that opens, tap on the callout icon.
  3. Enter your note in the textbox, then tap 'Done' to save it.
  4. Your note can be identified by the callout icon at the highlighted text. To open the note, tap the highlighted text, then tap the callout icon in the pop-up menu that opens.


Android

To make a highlight:

  1. Open your ebook in the reader app.
  2. Tap and hold a particular word in the text. A selector tool (which you can use to drag and select text with) becomes available, along with highlight colour options at the base of your screen.
  3. Drag the selector over the text you wish to highlight. A preview window opens, showing a zoomed-in view of the text you're selecting. Use this to guide you to the desired spot as you're dragging your finger over the text.
  4. Once the text is selected, tap your preferred colour in the colour selector. Your text will now be highlighted in this colour.


To add a note:

  1. Tap on the highlighted text. Tools become available at the base of your screen.
  2. Tap on the callout icon.

  3. Enter your note in the textbox that opens, then tap on the checkmark icon to save your note.

  4. Your note can be identified by the page icon at the highlighted text, which opens the note when tapped.


Windows and macOS

To make a highlight:

  1. Open your ebook in the desktop reader app.
  2. Click the 'Highlight' icon on the toolbar.
  3. Using your cursor, click and drag over the text that you wish to highlight in order to select it. It will highlight immediately using the default colour
  4. To change the colour of the highlight, click the highlighted text, then select your preferred colour from the colour selector in the pop-up menu.


To add a note:

  1. Click on the highlighted text, then click 'Note' in the pop-up menu that opens.
  2. Enter your note in the textbox, then click the 'OK' button to save the note.
  3. Your note can be identified by the tag alongside the highlighted text, which opens the note when clicked.
